MASSOLINO Barolo Riserva DOCG “Vigna Rionda” Dieci X Anni 2004

HK$2,100.00

Dieci X Anni are small quantities of Vigna Rionda that have been aged in the winery for a longer period of time, exactly 10 (X) years.

“The 2004 reveals superb complexity and nuance in a never-ending display of aromas and flavors that saturate the palate. Tobacco, truffles, spices, licorice and dark fruit swirl around in the glass as the wine continues to gain volume and depth with air. The tannins are massive yet beautifully balanced and the stage seems set for the 2004 to develop into one of the finest Vigna Riondas crafted here. Constantly changing in the glass, the wine captures that characteristic Rionda elusiveness that invites a second taste and then a third. In sum, it is a Barolo that will provide endless fascination for many years to come. Incredibly, it tastes almost as youthful as it did from barrel a few years ago!” – Wine Advocate, 96 Points

Description
Piedmont
Piedmont

Located, as its name suggests, at the foot of the Alps bordering France and Switzerland, Piedmont is the second largest of Italy’s 20 regions, after Sicily.
Recognized for its industry like Fiat in Turin, Piedmont is also one of the greatest regions in the world in terms of cuisine (don’t forget the white truffles from Alba!) and wine!
With 42 DOC and 17 DOCG, Piedmont has more wine appellations than any other Italian region. Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera but also Moscato or Dolcetto are demanded all over the world.

The history of the Massolinos and their wine became entwined with the history of Serralunga d’Alba in 1896, when Giovanni founded the estate. Giovanni was the very first person to bring electricity to the village.
The first wine cellar was built by Giuseppe, son of the founder Giovanni, who, together with his sister Angela, extended his estate into the best soils. At that time, Giuseppe had six children. Three of them followed in their father’s footsteps, expanding the estate with the purchase of cru vineyards which are authentic jewels: Margheria, Parafada and Vigna Rionda.
In the 1990’s Franco and Roberto, both oenologists, joined the family estate and put Massolino as one of the best Barolo producers.
