MARCHESI DI GRESY Barbaresco DOCG “Gaiun – Martinenga” 2016

HK$1,140.00

Gaiun is a 2.3ha single plot of Martinenga cru. It is located on the Western side of the amphitheatre facing mostly South with some South-easterly exposure.

” What a pretty wine. The 2016 Barbaresco Gaiun Martinenga reveals some of that candied cherry, blue violet and medical herb that we saw in the other releases from the historic Martinenga vineyard, but in the case of this vintage, all those aromas are presented with heightened intensity and clarity. The tannin is firm, but it serves to elevate and prop up that delicate palette of flavors and aromas. I’d give this wine a few extra years and a good decanting, and your patience will be amply rewarded. I am very taken by this beautiful expression.” – Wine Advocate, 96+ Points

Description
Piedmont
Piedmont

Located, as its name suggests, at the foot of the Alps bordering France and Switzerland, Piedmont is the second largest of Italy’s 20 regions, after Sicily.

Recognized for its industry like Fiat in Turin, Piedmont is also one of the greatest regions in the world in terms of cuisine (don’t forget the white truffles from Alba!) and wine!

With 46 DOC and 4 DOCG, Piedmont has more wine appellations than any other Italian region.

Marchesi di Gresy

The di Grésy family has owned Martinenga vineyard in Barbaresco since 1797.

In the early 1970s Alberto di Grésy realized the potential of his vineyard and decided that he had to vinify his own grapes.

In 1973 he produced his first vintage.

Marchesi di Grésy only vinifies grapes coming from its properties.

Located between Asili and Rabaja, the Martinenga cru is the only Langhe single owned “monopole”.
