CACCIA AL PIANO Bolgheri Superiore DOC “Caccia al Piano” 2019

HK$800.00

Made entirely from fruit in the San Biagio vineyard, high in the hills above the sea. There is a constant breeze from offshore, combining with cold nights to preserve acidity, and stony limestone-rich soils give a cooling minerality and balance to the Cabernet Sauvignon/ Cabernet Franc mix. The wine is full of energy, densely woven and balanced, packed with black fruit, floral and herbal notes, and a long fine powerful finish. It is lovely now but has a great future.

“Spicy oak adds some black-bean and sandalwood character to the dark olives, cassis, baked red capsicum, ground black chocolate and some grilled thyme. A full-bodied Bolgheri Superiore, charged with dusty tannins that melt into the blackberry and cassis fruit on the palate. Lovely, cedary oak in the lingering finish. Drinkable now, but hold until 2025 for additional complexity.” – James Suckling, 94 Points

Description
Tuscany
Tuscany

Tuscany is known for its landscapes, history and artistic legacy. As the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, the region has an incredible art and architecture heritage.

Tuscany is certainly the most famous of all Italian regions for its wines.

Sangiovese reigns in all its forms in the vineyards of Chianti but also Montepulciano and Montalcino.

It is also the land of the Super Tuscan, the Bordeaux blend style that laid the foundation of some of the greatest Italian wines.

As a pairing with these wines, Tuscany cuisine is based on simplicity but high quality and certainly topped with Tuscan olive oil, recognized all over the world.

The estate comprises about 30 hectares overall, of which 23 are planted to vineyard. Averaging between 13 to 23 years old, they are divided into four crus: San Biagio, Grottine, Cantina, and Le Bozze.

140,000 bottles are produced per year. Red wines are from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Petit Verdot. White wines rely on Vermentino and Sauvignon Blanc.
