CA’ DEL BOSCO Franciacorta Riserva DOCG “Annamaria Clementi” 2013

HK$1,100.00On sale price: HK$890.00

No compromises, no concessions. Only the finest grapes from the various crus are earmarked for this icon wine dedicated to Annamaria Clementi, the mother of Maurizio Zanella.
At least 8 years on yeasts. Extraordinarily complex bouquet, exceptionally full and persistent taste. An absolute Franciacorta.

“From its first vintage in 2008, Annamaria Clementi has been an icon of a wine. The 2013 continues this tradition with grace, elegance and depth. As the wine develops, aromas of macerated cherries, baked strawberries, Damson plums, vanilla and warm bread show themselves. Rich, yet with some restraint, the palate showcases the 100% Pinot Noir fruit from the estate’s oldest vines, highlighting the darker red fruit notes. The wine then walks a tightrope between richness and finesse, showing the skill and passion that it takes to make this wine.” – Wine Enthusiast, 98 Points

Description
Lombardy
Lombardy

Lombardy is the most populous, richest and most productive region in the country. 16.2% of the national population (10 million people) live there and create 21% of the total GDP.

The region is an important producer of wines but not really well recognized except Franciacorta or Valtellina.

If Italy is known for its spaghettis, Rice is very popular in the region, often found in soups as well as risotti, such as “risotto alla milanese”, with saffron. Butter is used, no olive oil!

The region is famous for its historical figures such as Virgil, Caravaggio, Claudio Monteverdi, Antonio Stradivari and popes John XXIII or Paul VI.

Ca’ del Bosco

Maurizio Zanella founded Ca’ del Bosco in 1968. The winery is situated in the Franciacorta region of Lombardy among the gentle hills of Brescia, south of Lake Iseo. Its neighbouring towns were historically better known for their production of firearms than wine.

Mr Zanella dedicated himself, for decades, to put Franciacorta on the map of quality Italian wine regions. He has worked to ensure the word “Franciacorta” would indicate a specific type of sparkling wine from a specific region, and would not be confused with “methode champenoise” or “spumante.”
