BERTANI Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2010

HK$1,280.00

Some consider Bertani as the inventor of modern Amarone. They work on the purity of the wine’s fruit, its territory and its tradition. The wine is built on acid and structure, not on sweetness and extract.

“For a 2010, this is still very fresh indeed, showcasing sour cherries, red plums, citrus, orange peel and grenadine. Very linear and tangy on the palate, but the muscular tannins provide depth and power. Medium-to full-bodied and medium-chewy on the vibrant finish. Beautifully crafted and expertly shaped. Flag-bearer for the modern style of Amarone.” – James Suckling, 95 Points

It is also a region that contributes a significant percentage of the country’s total wine industry. With now 14 DOCGS & 24 DOCs, Veneto is producing every style of wine and with great success.
Soave, Valpolicella and Bardolino, Amarone, are produced there. The super trendy sparkling wine Prosecco has its origins and its best expression in the Veneto.

Bertani

The Bertani winery was founded in 1857 by the brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani, in Quinto di Valpantena, north of Verona.
Bertani’s impact on Veneto winemaking, particularly in Amarone production, is so considerable that ‘Bertani’ and ‘Amarone’ are nearly synonymous. The 1st official vintage of Amarone Classico, made with a natural appassimento, has been produced by Bertani in 1958.
Nowadays, with over 200 hectares of vineyards in the most suitable areas of the Verona province, today Bertani is still going on between tradition and innovation. In 2018, Bertani has been awarded “Winery of the Year” by Doctor Wine Daniele Cernilli.
