DOMAINE LA SOLITUDE Châteauneuf du Pape “Vin de La Solitude” 2020

HK$690.00

A tribute to the family ancestor Paul Martin, who was one of the first French winemakers to sell his wine in bottles in the 18th century under the name “Vin de la Solitude”.
Made according to the 18th-century vinique art with very different blends where Grenache is not dominant. The wine consists of a large number of co-fermented grapes with much longer macerations than those made today.

“Now, it’s time to taste history! Extremely aromatic for a Chateauneuf with extraordinary flint, spiced bread and bitter chocolate aromas. The interplay of richness and freshness is extraordinary, and the way the crisp tannins lift the concentrated and powerful palate is no less remarkable. A cuvee that recreates the pre-phylloxera situation. The grapes are co-fermented, but completely unstemmed (whole cluster) and macerated for about three months. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.” – 97pts by James Suckling

Grape: Counoise 24%, Grenache noir 22%, Syrah 20%, Mourvèdre 19%, Cinsault 7%, Clairette blanche & rose 5%, Bourboulenc 1%, Roussanne 1%, Picpoul 1%

描述
Rhone-Valley
Rhône

One of the demanded red wine regions in France is the Rhône, a valley that starts due south of Lyon and continues along the Rhône River until Provence.

Due to its notable length, it has varying soils, expositions, micro-climates and varieties. The north is home to appellations such as Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, St-Joseph, Cornas and features Syrah as its sole red grape. Its whites include Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier.

In its southern half of the Rhône, the wines are notably different. The vineyards are hotter, flatter and composed of different soils and varieties, such as Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Carignan as well as the ubiquitous Syrah. The resulting wines such as Châteauneuf du Pape, are rich and robust with lots of character and warmth.

Domaine de La Solitude

La Solitude belongs to one of the oldest families of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Their history goes back to the XVth century. From generation to generation, the Estate is still a family affair and is now run by Florent Lançon.
La Solitude stretches over 37 hectares of the best terroirs in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The domain begins on “La Crau”, high terraces of the Rhône and then descends into the valley of la Solitude. It is a patchwork of terroirs ranging from sandy soils (safres) to clay and pebbles (galets roulés). Thirteen different grape varieties are cultivated there!
The vineyard has been practising organic viticulture for a long time and will be officially certified from 2021 vintage and biodynamic from 2022.
