ALVARO PALACIOS Priorat DOCa “La Baixada” 2019

HK$1,650.00

1.3ha vineyard located in Gratallops.

“Purity of fruit, with blackberries, cherries, orange peel and some mineral spice. Really gorgeous. Full-bodied with round tannins and a juicy, chewy finish. Yet the tannins are pure and layered. Give this four or five years to come together, but exciting already. Drink after 2024 and onwards.” – James Suckling, 96 Points

Grape: 98% Garnacha, 2% Garnacha blanca & Macabeo

描述
Spain Priorat
Priorat

Located in Catalunya, Priorat is DOCa, the highest qualification level for a wine region in Spain.

Priorat produces full-bodied and powerful reds. Priorat began garnering international attention for their product during the 1990s, and the popularity is still very high.

The vineyards themselves are typically terraced between 100m and 700m above sea level.

Priorat wines are known for their red Garnacha from the older vineyards.

The Garnacha has been the steadiest of the varieties sold, while wines with Syrah have gained market share in the last few years.

96% of the planted vineyards are red varietals, with only 4% with white.

Alvaro Palacios spent his childhood in his parents’ winery, Palacios Remondo, in Rioja.

Instead of making branded wines, Alvaro Palacios got a more ambitious vision to make Great Classic Wines!

Then, his search led him to Priorat, in Catalonia, where Garnacha traditionally reigns supreme.

Alvaro Palacios has reinstated the reputation of the wild, isolated region into a legend in its own right.

In the late 90s, Alvaro Palacios launched a winery in Bierzo with his nephew Ricardo.

On the death of his father in 2000, Alvaro Palacios took over the family winery in Rioja.
