Kagoshima Prefecture
It is a prefecture of Japan located on the island of Kyushu and the Ryukyu Islands.
Kagoshima is the capital and largest city. It has been nicknamed the “Naples of the Eastern world” for its bay location, hot climate, and emblematic stratovolcano, Sakurajima.
Vodka
AKAYANE Premium Vodka is made by slowly breaking down local Kagoshima sweet potatoes to convert its starches into sugar, without use rice koji.
The sugar is slowly fermented at a low temperature to create a mash, which is then distilled in a directly-heated Charentais still.
The spirit is then filtered through white birch charcoal.
This premium vodka has the sweet scent of sweet potatoes, which is slightly different from the aroma of sweet potato shochu and has a crisp and sharp aftertaste.
Akayane
A small shochu distillery founded in 1908, located at the southernmost tip of Japan’s mainland.
The AKAYANE story began in 2006. A group of Japanese distillers aimed to expand the range of the Japanese distilled spirit shochu.
They fused Japanese distilling techniques honed over more than over 110 years with European distilling equipment techniques and philosophies
