DOMAINE LA SOLITUDE Côtes du Rhône “La Solitude” White 2023

HK$145.00

A nose of citrus and apricot along with white flowers. A round and greedy mouth with a fresh and tasty finish. Pair with grilled fish, Asian cuisine such as yakitoris or tempuras. Can also be enjoyed as an aperitif.

“Youthful nose of lemon blossoms, white peaches and Asian pears. Very elegant and vivacious for a white Rhone. Medium-bodied and polished palate, with a lovely saltiness at the finish that makes it feel crisper than the wine really is. A cuvee based on viognier and marsanne with clairette and grenache blanc. Vinified completely in stainless steel.” – James Suckling, 92 Points

“Fresh red and green apples mingle with gentle ginger, honey, jasmine, and wet alluvial stone aromas, creating a soft and inviting nose. On the palate, bright acidity energizes flavors of fresh almonds, acacia, and a touch of honey, leading to a long finish marked by salty, stony notes. This wine is delicious now and pairs beautifully with fresh seafood.” – Wine Enthusiast, 90 Points & Best Buy!

Description
Rhone-Valley
Rhône

One of the demanded red wine regions in France is the Rhône, a valley that starts due south of Lyon and continues along the Rhône River until Provence.

Due to its notable length, it has varying soils, expositions, micro-climates and varieties. The north is home to appellations such as Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, St-Joseph, Cornas and features Syrah as its sole red grape. Its whites include Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier.

In its southern half of the Rhône, the wines are notably different. The vineyards are hotter, flatter and composed of different soils and varieties, such as Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Carignan as well as the ubiquitous Syrah. The resulting wines such as Châteauneuf du Pape, are rich and robust with lots of character and warmth.

Domaine de La Solitude

La Solitude belongs to one of the oldest families of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Their history goes back to the XVth century. From generation to generation, the Estate is still a family affair and is now run by Florent Lançon.
La Solitude stretches over 37 hectares of the best terroirs in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The domain begins on “La Crau”, high terraces of the Rhône and then descends into the valley of la Solitude. It is a patchwork of terroirs ranging from sandy soils (safres) to clay and pebbles (galets roulés). Thirteen different grape varieties are cultivated there!
The vineyard has been practising organic viticulture for a long time and will be officially certified from 2021 vintage and biodynamic from 2022.
