CLÉMENT Rhum Vieux Agricole AOC – VSOP Rum (40%)

HK$745.00

Rum aged for 4 years in ex-Bourbon casks and new American oak barrels.

Refined nose, beautifully integrated oak, enhanced by delicate spicy notes of vanilla and cinnamon, alongside subtle toasted nuances and indulgent hints of mocha and coffee.

A round, enveloping texture, carried by aromas of dried fruits, date, and fig, with spices clearly present.

Long finish, rich, and indulgent.

Martinique
Martinique

Martinique, a French Caribbean island, is mainly producing “Rhum Agricole”. It is obtained by distilling of sugar cane juice directly. This kind of rum is more aromatic.

In 1996, the Island Rhum Agricole obtained an AOC recognition, “Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée’’. It is the only one so far.

There are strict ageing conditions & appellations:

*“Rhum Blanc Agricole Martinique”: min. 8 weeks in steel tanks

*“Rhum Vieux Agricole”: min. 3 years in oak casks of 650L

*“Rhum Extra Vieux Agricole, XO”: min. 6 years in oak casks

All ageing & bottling must be done on the island.

Rhum Clément

Rhum Clément has been established in 1887 when Homère Clément purchased a 43-hectare sugar plantation.

Homère mimicked the distillers of the great Armagnac to perfect his method of rum production known today as Rhum Agricole.

Nowadays, Clément has 8,000 barrels patiently aged in their cellars and is a leading producer exporting to 80 different countries.

Around 8% of the volume of each barrel is lost every year due to « evaporation » (or Angel share).

The aging is also unique. It is going 2.5 times faster than in Europe or Kentucky due to the high temperature and humidity.
