One of the demanded red wine regions in France is the Rh\u00f4ne, a valley that starts due south of Lyon and continues along the Rh\u00f4ne River until Provence.<\/p>\n
Due to its notable length, it has varying soils, expositions, micro-climates and varieties. The north is home to appellations such as Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, St-Joseph, Cornas and features Syrah as its sole red grape. Its whites include Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier.<\/p>\n
In its southern half of the Rh\u00f4ne, the wines are notably different. The vineyards are hotter, flatter and composed of different soils and varieties, such as Grenache, Mourv\u00e8dre, Cinsault and Carignan as well as the ubiquitous Syrah. Ch\u00e2teau Pesqui\u00e9 is a family estate located in the southern Rh\u00f4ne Valley, at the foot of the southern slopes of Mont Ventoux.<\/p>\n
The management of Ch\u00e2teau Pesqui\u00e9 is now the responsibility of Alexandre and Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Chaudi\u00e8re, the 3rd generation of the family.<\/p>\n
The vines occupy clay and limestone slopes and are among some of the last to produce fully ripened fruit in the southern Rh\u00f4ne Valley.<\/p>\n
In 2003, the brothers have implemented organic viticultural methods at the estate. From 2015 they have farmed biodynamically.<\/p>\n

One of the three red single vineyards at Ch\u00e2teau Pesqui\u00e9, Artemia Rouge is a purple color. The wine has an aromatic nose, with notes of violet flower, licorice, spices and fresh blackberry. On the palate, there is a velvety texture, aromas of strawberry, raspberry, graphite and violet flower, with a long and slightly peppery finish.<\/p>\n
