Wine has been produced in the United States since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628.<\/p>\n

Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states but 84% of all US wine is produced in California, over 90% in the states of California, Washington, and Oregon.<\/p>\n

The United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world.<\/p>\n

The North American continent is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”14507″ img_size=”400×200″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Pym Rae<\/strong><\/p>\n

In January 2016, the Tesseron family became the owners of Villa Sorriso (Villa of Smiles), the former property of the actor Robin Williams.<\/p>\n

The actor christened the vineyard with the middle names of his children \u201cPYM\u201d and \u201cRAE\u201d. Due to this touching story and in respect to the previous owners, the Tesserons have chosen to continue this name for the domain\u2019s wine.<\/p>\n

The vineyard had to be planted with Bordeaux varieties, the same that the family had experience with at Pontet-Canet. Finally, the vines had to be mature as only older plants have established a deep root system, allowing them to extract the terroir\u2019s purest expression and minerality which will yield full and complex wines.<\/p>\n

“The 2018 Pym-Rae reveals a deep garnet-purple color and a slightly reticent, slowly emerging nose of freshly crushed blackcurrants, ripe blackberries and wild blueberries with suggestions of garrigue, red currant jelly, mossy tree bark and truffles plus wafts of bouquet garni and Sichuan pepper. The palate is full-bodied and fantastically concentrated with tightly wound layers of black and red berry notions, framed by very firm yet beautifully ripe tannins and amazing tension, finishing with epic length and loads of mineral sparks.” – Wine Advocate, 98+pts<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
