On May 25th 1728, Louis XV issued a decree allowing wines of Champagne to be both shipped and commercialized in bottles, marking the birth of Champagne as we know it today. This Cuvée is only made from Grands Crus and in the best vintages.

"This is really punchy and broad-shouldered with muscular structure and citrusy undertones. Full body. Lightly tannic and a fresh and vivid finish. This is the first vintage without malolactic fermentation ever. One for the cellar." - James Suckling, 95 Points

Grape: 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir

Champagne, lying to the east of the Paris region, is one of the historic provinces of France.

Thanks to a sparkling wine to which the region has given its name, the word Champagne is known worldwide – even if many of those who know the drink do not know exactly where it comes from.

Champagne wine was first produced within its three main towns – Reims, its largest and home to the Montagne de Reims, famed for its Pinot Noir; Epernay, the capital of the Côte des Blancs, the area most renowned for its Chardonnay; and Ay, the town situated on the border of both the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs.

"The 2008 Amarone della Valpolicella Monte Lodoletta marks a return to a slightly cooler vintage with a longer growing season slowed down during the summer's moderate temperatures. Indeed, harvest was wrapped up during the first days of November. The tannins are firm and nicely integrated into the wine's thick, fleshy consistency. This vintage is characterized by a very elegant and graceful approach, which must be taken into context given the enormity of a wine of this caliber. Happily, there is no doubt that this vintage should still evolve steadily over time." - Wine Advocate, 96 Points

Grape: 60% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 10% Oseleta, 10% Croatina.

Made with 100% Barbera grapes grown in estate-owned vineyards in Rocchetta Tanaro. La bigotta was a pious woman who lived next to the vineyard. She was much more concerned with the rules and appearances of religion than the spirit behind it. Braida added the spirit!

Braida

Braida has been created in 1961 by Giacomo Bologna. He has been recognized as the first winemaker to raise the quality from a traditional table Barbera to a fine wine.

In 1982, Braida launched Bricco dell’ Uccellone, a “Super Barbera”.

The wines were aged in small, French oak barrels in order to compensate for Barbera’s lack of tannins. The result was a deeply flavourful, complex wine out of a variety normally considered to be an acidic filler.

Now, the children, Raffaella and Giuseppe, run the wine estate. They have made Braida one of the most respected wineries in Piedmont.
