Les Cretes Chardonnay is a brilliant, straw yellow hue. Ripe melon and papaya with almond milk on the nose. Lush, ripe fruit on the palate surrounded by a core of bracing acidity. Rich mineral finish with tropical fruit overtones.

Drink as an aperitif or with appetizers, first courses (soups, pasta), cheese and herb-based omelets, fish, white and roasted meat along with medium seasoned cheeses.

"A restrained wine with white pepper, chalky minerality and citrus on the nose. Sweet fruit on the palate, with a silky texture, zesty acidity and citrus flavors. Polished finish." - James Suckling, 94 Points

Grape: 100% Chardonnay

A brilliant straw yellow color. Intense, full nose with nuances of fruits (plum, exotic, fruits), spices (vanilla) and delicate toasty aromas. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, warm and velvety with mineral undertones and a lively acidity at the finish.

"A deep and rich chardonnay with lots of dried apple and honey, as well as honeysuckle and dried lilacs. Full-bodied and layered with lots of phenolics and richness. Some caramel, too, yet it remains fresh throughout. So much dried lemon at the end. Intense and contrastive. Fantastic. Better to decant. Drink now or hold." - James Suckling, 96 Points

The name Fumin comes from the smoky grey colour of its berries, rich in bloom. This ancestral indigenous varietal is today vinified purely in Valle d’Aosta. Les Cretes was the first company to produce it in DOP in 1993.

"The dark-skinned Fumin grape was traditionally used as a blending agent, but it is now often featured as a monovarietal wine. The Les Crêtes 2018 Valle d'Aosta Fumin sits pretty in the glass, reflecting dark nuances of ruby and crimson. The wine shows fruity tones of plum and blackcurrant, but you also get a whiff of the crushed white peppercorn that I often find in the indigenous grapes of Italy. This release of about 14,000 bottles is lean-bodied and would easily pair with a wide assortment of local dishes, including the unforgettable pizzoccheri buckwheat pasta." - Wine Advocate, 92 Points

Intense heady aromas of strawberries, spice, rose and anise. On the palate this wine has great finesse and is well structured. Full bodied, warm and grippy, the finish is full of fruit and promise.

Aosta Valley

Surrounded by Piedmont in the south and east, French Alps in the west, Swiss Valais in the north, Aosta Valley is the smallest, least populous, and least densely populated region of Italy.
The region is renowned for the quality of its local salamis and meats giving rise to specialities such as carbonada, a dish composed of stewed meat wine, onions and spices. The cheeses are equally famous.
Home to Europe’s highest elevated vineyards, Valle d’Aosta is Italy’s smallest winemaking region both in terms of size and production.
Claiming an impressive list of autochthonous varieties, the region has also many grapes from France. Not surprisingly, wine labels are often written in Italian and French.

Les Crêtes

Founded in 1989 by Costantino Charrere, Les Cretes is one of only a few private wineries in the Valle D’Aosta. The winery is located in Aymavilles.

It currently manages 25 hectares of vineyards in six villages. The production is about 220,000 bottles per year.

Les Crêtes produces its wines in a very specific context, characterized by high mountains, sandy slopes and alpine temperatures.

Les Crêtes vineyards are planted in both indigenous vinifera varieties (Petite Arvine, Petit Rouge, Fumin), as well as the more traditional varieties (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Muscat). Their Chardonnay has been awarded best white in Italy by Gambero Rosso in 2009.
