From the Arabic term “Son of the Wind” because the wind sweeps constantly around the grape clusters on Pantelleria.
Rich bouquet with outstanding aromas obtained from the dried grapes: apricots and candied orange peel. Maybe the best sweet wine from Italy?

"A rich, luxurious sweetie, with flavors of orange glacée, pink grapefruit sorbet, spun honey, apple peel and butterscotch melting on the palate like cotton candy. A bright tang of citrusy acidity and a touch of salinity give this good cut and form, while fragrant hints of lavender, cardamom, white chocolate and Earl Grey waft in on the long, lasting finish. Drink now through 2034." - Wine Spectator, 94 Points

Piedmont

Located, as its name suggests, at the foot of the Alps bordering France and Switzerland, Piedmont is the second largest of Italy’s 20 regions, after Sicily.

Recognized for its industry like Fiat in Turin, Piedmont is also one of the greatest regions in the world in terms of cuisine (don’t forget the white truffles from Alba!) and wine!

With 42 DOC and 17 DOCG, Piedmont has more wine appellations than any other Italian region.

The most recognized grape variety is Nebbiolo named exactly for the arrival of this pre-harvest fog (called “nebbia” in Italian), which prolongs cluster hang time and allows full phenolic balance and ripeness. This grape is responsible for the exalted Piedmont wines of Barbaresco and Barolo, known for their ageability, firm tannins and hallmark aromas of tar and roses. Nebbiolo wines, despite their pale hue, pack a pleasing punch of flavor and structure. Barbaresco tends to be more elegant in style while Barolo is more powerful. Across the Tanaro River, the Roero region, and farther north, the regions of Gattinara and Ghemme, also produce excellent quality Nebbiolo.

Barbera is the most planted grape in Piedmont, beloved for its trademark high acidity, low tannin and juicy red fruit. Dolcetto, Piedmont’s other important red grape, is usually ready within a couple of years of release.

Tenute Cisa Asinari dei Marchesi di Grésy has been owned by the di Grésy family since 1797.
In the early 1970s Alberto di Grésy realized the potential of his vineyard and decided that he had to vinify his own grapes. In 1973 he produced his first vintage with the objective of transferring the class and character of the terroir, vineyards and varietal into the bottle.
Marchesi di Grésy only vinifies grapes coming from its properties, 45 hectares of vineyards divided among the Martinenga, Monte Aribaldo, La Serra and Monte Colombo estates.
Located between Asili and Rabaja, the Martinenga cru is 100% owned by di Gresy family. The vineyard is the only Langhe single owned “monopole”.

Gaiun is a 2.3ha single plot of Martinenga cru. It is located on the Western side of the amphitheatre facing mostly South with some South-easterly exposure.

" What a pretty wine. The 2016 Barbaresco Gaiun Martinenga reveals some of that candied cherry, blue violet and medical herb that we saw in the other releases from the historic Martinenga vineyard, but in the case of this vintage, all those aromas are presented with heightened intensity and clarity. The tannin is firm, but it serves to elevate and prop up that delicate palette of flavors and aromas. I'd give this wine a few extra years and a good decanting, and your patience will be amply rewarded. I am very taken by this beautiful expression." - Wine Advocate, 96+ Points

The vineyard “Parussi” is located in Castiglione Falletto with excellent south-easterly/south-westerly exposure. Only 1.3 hectare at 300 m above sea level.

"Sourced from a 1.3-hectare parcel of Parussi in Castiglione Falletto, the 2017 Barolo Parussi is fresh with chalky mineral earth, red cherry, dried roses, and cedar. Ripe and vibrant, with dried raspberry leather, apricot, and sweet herbs, there are powerful tannins that balance the fruit. These are wines that need time to show their true potential and I think will be worth the wait." - Jeb Dunnuck, 95 Points

Atypical Serralunga soil. Less clay, a little more sand. Makes for a wine that is much more expressive and approachable. More similar to the wines of western Barolo with softer tannins. Margheria cru owned by Massolino is only 1.5 hectare with a production of 5,500 bottles max.

"Taut and linear, this Barolo walks the line between red berry fruits and savory, herbal elements. Underlining it all is a backbone of iron and dense, fine-grained tannins. Put it all together and you have a nascent red with terrific potential." - Wine Spectator, 95 Points

From the Arabic term "Son of the Wind" because the wind sweeps constantly around the grape clusters on Pantelleria. And the island's winds bring with them a profusion of fragrances so powerful that you can touch them!
Rich bouquet with outstanding aromas obtained from the dried grapes: apricots and candied orange peel. Maybe the best sweet wine from Italy?

"More of an experience than merely a wine! An exotic blast of ripe stone fruit and sweet spice unfold to reveal honeyed layers of mandarin zest and sumptuous apricot. Creamy and luxurious with a superb acidity and captivating finish." - Decanter, 98 Points
