The vineyard “Parussi” is located in Castiglione Falletto with excellent south-easterly/south-westerly exposure. Only 1.3 hectare at 300 m above sea level.

"The Barolo Parussi 2020 is a real eye-catcher. The wine is radiant and bright with a particularly direct and concentrated quality. I would describe it as razor-sharp. There is also a general feeling of finesse and tightness. I can't get enough of it and am curious to see how it will develop in 10 or 20 years." - Wine Advocate, 97+ Points

"The Barolo Parussi 2020 is an elegant, nuanced wine. It shows lovely textural depth and resonance, but in the mid-weight style of the year. Dark red cherry, lavender, rose petal, mint and spice all build beautifully and fill out the layers effortlessly. The 2020 is weightless and elegant, with the understated textural depth that is so typical of this vintage." - Vinous, 94 Points

Grape: 100% Nebbiolo

Parafada Cru has very compact soil with lots of clay. Typically shows much of tannin and masculinity. Only 1.13 hectare / 4,500 bottles a year produced by Massolino!

"With fruit from 60- to 65-year-old vines in Serralunga d'Alba, the Massolino 2019 Barolo Parafada is vibrant and bright with very pretty aromas of wild cherry, blue flower, iron ore and rusty nail. The wine displays very pretty intensity but remains balanced all the while. There is a lot of precision and definition in this well-structured Nebbiolo. Be patient with this wine." - Wine Advocate, 97+ Points

DOQ Priorat produces full-bodied and powerful reds; Priorat began garnering international attention for their product during the 1990s, and the popularity internationally has not abated. Located in the valleys of the Siurana and Montsant rivers, the vineyards themselves are typically terraced between 100m and 700m above sea level encompassing an area of 19.783 hectares.

Priorat wines are known for their red Garnacha tinta from the older vineyards. The Garnacha has been the most steady of the varieties sold, while wines with Syrah have gained market share in the last few years at the expense of Carinena varietals. 96% of the planted vineyards are red varietals, with only 4% of the existing vineyards with white.

Alvaro Palacios

Born in 1964, Alvaro Palacios spent his childhood in his parents’ bodega, Palacios Remondo, in Rioja Oriental.

At a time when Spain had forged a reputation on branded wines, Alvaro Palacios had set his sights on a more ambitious, pioneering vision to make Great Classic Wines!

His search led him to Priorat, in Catalonia, where Garnacha traditionally reigns supreme. Through his world-class wine production, notably ‘l’Ermita’, Alvaro Palacios has reinstated the reputation of the wild, isolated region of Priorat into a legend in its own right.

In the late 90s, in search of a new challenge, this time joining forces with his nephew Ricardo Perez Palacios, his passion led him to Bierzo, a relatively recent appellation in the region of Castilla y Leon. Alvaro Palacios launched Descendientes de J. Palacios, where through their continued hard work and dedication, the duo has succeeded in creating top-quality wines.

On the death of his father in 2000, Alvaro Palacios took over the helm of the Palacios Remondo in Rioja. He has since brought new dynamism to the family winery. Today, Alvaro Palacios has far exceeded his vision of Making Great Classic Wines to become one of Spain’s most iconic winemakers, recognised globally for revolutionising the Spanish wine industry by the most eminent wine critics.

Created with Giacomo Tachis, the winemaker behind Super Tuscan, Sassicaia, Tignanello or Solaia, it is nowadays one of the most important red wines of Italy. Complex and balsamic, finesse and power are combined together giving great elegance to this wine.

"A wine to drink at least 10 years from now, the 2016 San Leonardo is positioned to be enjoyed in the far long term. Like its Tuscan cousin from Bolgheri, Sassicaia, San Leonardo from the mountainous north of Italy is always a wine that starts off quietly but that grows in intensity and complexity as it completes its bottle evolution. This elegant vintage reveals beautiful tones of dark berry fruit, spice and freshly milled white pepper. The wine is exceptionally balanced, fresh and long." - Wine Advocate, 97+ Points

Created with Giacomo Tachis, the winemaker behind Super Tuscan, Sassicaia, Tignanello or Solaia, it is nowadays one of the most important red wines of Italy. Complex and balsamic, finesse and power are combined together giving great elegance to this wine.

"The 2015 San Leonardo pours forth with a beautiful velvety appearance and sultry dark garnet color. This wine shows a lot of life and dark fruit purity with black plum, blackberry, cassis and tarry prune. There is a delightful note of black pepper that is specific to this warm and sunny vintage. The fruit shows softer and richer concentration compared to past vintages and more pulpy density that gives this edition a bigger profile in terms of mouthfeel." - Wine Advocate, 97 Points

Grape: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Carmenere, 10% Merlot

Parafada Cru has very compact soil with lots of clay. Typically shows much of tannin and masculinity. Only 1.13 hectare / 4,500 bottles a year produced by Massolino!

"The 2016 Barolo Parafada is fabulous. In fact, the 2016 is one of the best - if not the best - Parafadas I have ever tasted at Massolino. The natural richness of this site marries with the translucence of the year to produce a weightless yet powerful, highly nuanced Barolo that hits all the right notes. Dark cherry, lavender, spice, mint, rose petal and licorice develop in the glass, but it is the interplay of richness and lightness that elevates the Parafada into the realm of the truly sublime. I have never tasted a Parafada like this here. What a wine!" - Vinous, 96 Points

" The Massolino 2016 Barolo Parafada is a rich and beautifully fleshed out wine that brings forth abundant aromas of dark fruit, Morello cherry, spice, tobacco, crushed stone and rust. This wine shows power and determination, and it definitely has the structure, freshness and inner fruit weight to go the long haul. Parafada is made with old-vine Nebbiolo (60 years old and more), and these results show stunning precision and care. The wine will age with confidence for 20 years or more. Congratulations to Massolino for this classic beauty." - Wine Advocate, 97+ Points

Vigna Rionda is historically the most revered vineyard of Serralunga, the source of some of the greatest, finest, yet most robust and long-lived Barolo. Massolino, the largest owner, produces a wine with excellent acidity and tannins that require ageing in barrel and bottle, at least 6 years.

"Hailing from one of the most celebrated vineyards in the entire denomination, this focused beauty boasts layers of complexity and depth, starting with its classic Nebbiolo aromas of forest floor, new leather, violet and wild berry. Balanced and firmly structured, the palate shows tension, power and elegance, delivering succulent Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, tobacco and licorice alongside firm, aristocratic tannins." - Wine Enthusiast, 98 Points
