The Rabajà vineyard is one of the most historic, famous, and sought-out crus of Barbaresco. 4 hectares with South / South-West exposure owned by Giuseppe Cortese!

"Already exuding complexity on the nose. The red fruit is colored with a variety of nuances, from dry earth and mild spice to flower petals and light citrus notes. Medium-bodied with well-integrated tannins that sink into the fruit mid palate but re-emerge right at the end to give a firm finish. Despite that, the fruit drive is relentless. Needs time to even out. It will gain more breadth, too. Exceptional Barbaresco that highlights the excellence of the terroir here." - James Suckling, 95 Points

"Fragrant and loaded with finesse, this stunner opens with enticing scents of rose, violet, perfumed berry and camphor. Smooth and extremely elegant, the vibrant, savory palate features juicy red cherry, blood orange and crushed raspberry while star anise and mineral notes suggesting rusty nail—and that's a good thing—add depth. Bright acidity and lithe tannins lend balance and seamless support. It's all about elegance and energy." Editors' Choice - Wine Enthusiast, 96 Points

Grape: 100% Nebbiolo

Some consider Bertani as the inventor of modern Amarone. They work on the purity of the wine's fruit, its territory and its tradition. The wine is built on acid and structure, not on sweetness and extract.

"A classy effort, the 2006 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a magnificent wine that showcases the qualities and pretty nuances of the elegant vintage. The bouquet is immensely perfumed with delicate tones of crushed mineral, red rose, dried cherry, creme de cassis, Indian spice and cured meat. It's a streamlined expression that is still muted at this young stage. Give it more time to complete its evolutionary course." - Wine Advocate, 93+ Points

Grape: 80% Corvina, 20% Rondinella

With 42 DOC and 17 DOCG, Piedmont has more wine appellations than any other Italian region.

The most recognized grape variety is Nebbiolo named exactly for the arrival of this pre-harvest fog (called “nebbia” in Italian), which prolongs cluster hang time and allows full phenolic balance and ripeness. This grape is responsible for the exalted Piedmont wines of Barbaresco and Barolo, known for their ageability, firm tannins and hallmark aromas of tar and roses. Nebbiolo wines, despite their pale hue, pack a pleasing punch of flavor and structure. Barbaresco tends to be more elegant in style while Barolo is more powerful. Across the Tanaro River, the Roero region, and farther north, the regions of Gattinara and Ghemme, also produce excellent quality Nebbiolo.

Barbera is the most planted grape in Piedmont, beloved for its trademark high acidity, low tannin and juicy red fruit. Dolcetto, Piedmont’s other important red grape, is usually ready within a couple of years of release.
