Saint Lucia is a sovereign island country in the West indies, located north\/northeast of the island of Saint-Vincent, northwest of Barbados and south of Martinique. A blend of distillates from coffey still and three copper pot stills. 90% of the blend is from a molasses base while 10% is from fresh sugar cane juice fermented with natural yeasts and distilled in John Dore pot still. \nThe French were the island’s first European settlers, thanks to a pirate named Fran\u00e7ois Le Clerc, nicknamed \u201cJambe de Bois\u201d because of his wooden leg.
\nEngland took control of the island from 1663 to 1667. In ensuing years, it was at war with France fourteen times, and the rule of the island changed frequently (it was ruled seven times each by the French and British). In 1814, the British took definitive control of the island.
\nSaint Lucia only became independent within the British Commonwealth in 1979.
\nThe country is becoming more and more touristic. \nThe distillery, the only one of Saint Lucia island has been created in 1972 as a result of the merger of Saint Lucia last two distilleries (Barnard Distillery from Dennery and Geest Distillery from Roseau Valley).
\nAwarded \u201c(Rum) Distillery of the Year\u201d by World Spirits in 2018, St Lucia is producing a 100% English Style Rum.
\nChairman’s Reserve was created in 1999 to prove that Saint Lucia had premium Rums to offer the world. Since then it\u2019s won two-dozen medals at international festivals.
