Rh\u00f4ne<\/h5>\n

One of the demanded red wine regions in France is the Rh\u00f4ne, a valley that starts due south of Lyon and continues along the Rh\u00f4ne River until Provence.<\/p>\n

Due to its notable length, it has varying soils, expositions, micro-climates and varieties. The north is home to appellations such as Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, St-Joseph, Cornas and features Syrah as its sole red grape. Its whites include Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier.<\/p>\n

In its southern half of the Rh\u00f4ne, the wines are notably different. The vineyards are hotter, flatter and composed of different soils and varieties, such as Grenache, Mourv\u00e8dre, Cinsault and Carignan as well as the ubiquitous Syrah. The resulting wines such as Ch\u00e2teauneuf du Pape, are rich and robust with lots of character and warmth.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”8606″ img_size=”400×200″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Domaine de La Solitude<\/h5>\n

La Solitude belongs to one of the oldest families of Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape. Their history goes back to the XVth century. From generation to generation, the Estate is still a family affair and is now run by Florent Lan\u00e7on.
\nLa Solitude stretches over 37 hectares of the best terroirs in Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape. The domain begins on \u201cLa Crau\u201d, high terraces of the Rh\u00f4ne and then descends into the valley of la Solitude. It is a patchwork of terroirs ranging from sandy soils (safres) to clay and pebbles (galets roul\u00e9s). Thirteen different grape varieties are cultivated there!
\nThe vineyard has been practising organic viticulture for a long time and will be officially certified from 2021 vintage and biodynamic from 2022.<\/p>\n

“Very attractive nose of raspberries, licorice and oranges with a touch of summer flowers. Round and silky on the full-bodied palate, the ample tannins are beautifully integrated, making the long, refined finish velvety. A cuvee of 65% grenache, 20% syrah, and 5% each of mourvedre, counoise and cinsault from biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.” – James Suckling, 94 Points<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

“The deeper ruby-hued 2022 Ch\u00e2teauneuf Du Pape is based on 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and the rest equal parts Mourv\u00e8dre, Cinsault, and Counoise. Raised in concrete tank (90%) and new oak (10%), it has aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries, spring flowers, and a touch of black pepper. It offers medium-bodied richness with a pure, layered mouthfeel and integrated tannins. A gorgeous wine to enjoy over the next 10-12 years.” – Jeb Dunnuck, 94 Points<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
