Parafada Cru has very compact soil with lots of clay. Typically shows much of tannin and masculinity. Only 1.13 hectare / 4,500 bottles a year produced by Massolino!

"Notes of dried raspberries, cherries, dried orange peel and ground spices. Some tar. Medium-bodied, structured and firm, with polished tannins. I like the energy and length here. Round and refined with a bright finish. So well done. Drink after 2027" - James Suckling, 96 Points

“Parafada is a small MGA in a basin with full south, east and west exposures. Massolino's interpretation is surgical: super-zesty with earthy strawberry, liquorice, fresh violet and a Pinot-like elegance. The palate shows a richness with juicy, brilliant acidity, silky tannins and an amazing finish with blood orange vibrancy. Graceful, with good strength for ageing.” - Decanter, 96 Points

Grape: 100% Nebbiolo

"With fruit from 60- to 65-year-old vines in Serralunga d'Alba, the Massolino 2019 Barolo Parafada is vibrant and bright with very pretty aromas of wild cherry, blue flower, iron ore and rusty nail. The wine displays very pretty intensity but remains balanced all the while. There is a lot of precision and definition in this well-structured Nebbiolo. Be patient with this wine." - Wine Advocate, 97+ Points

"The 2016 Barolo Parafada is fabulous. In fact, the 2016 is one of the best - if not the best - Parafadas I have ever tasted at Massolino. The natural richness of this site marries with the translucence of the year to produce a weightless yet powerful, highly nuanced Barolo that hits all the right notes. Dark cherry, lavender, spice, mint, rose petal and licorice develop in the glass, but it is the interplay of richness and lightness that elevates the Parafada into the realm of the truly sublime. I have never tasted a Parafada like this here. What a wine!" - Vinous, 96 Points

" The Massolino 2016 Barolo Parafada is a rich and beautifully fleshed out wine that brings forth abundant aromas of dark fruit, Morello cherry, spice, tobacco, crushed stone and rust. This wine shows power and determination, and it definitely has the structure, freshness and inner fruit weight to go the long haul. Parafada is made with old-vine Nebbiolo (60 years old and more), and these results show stunning precision and care. The wine will age with confidence for 20 years or more. Congratulations to Massolino for this classic beauty." - Wine Advocate, 97+ Points

Parafada Cru has very compact soil with lots of clay. Typically shows much of tannin and masculinity. Only 1.13 hectare / 4,500 bottles a year produced by Massolino!

"This gorgeous red opens with classic aromas of forest floor, wild berry, crushed herb, blue flower and a whiff of menthol. It's all about structure and finesse, delivering succulent Marasca cherry, raspberry compote, licorice, baking spice and crushed mint flavors. Bright acidity and firm, polished tannins give it wonderful balance and a smooth texture." - Wine Enthusiast, 96 Points

"A moody nose with deep blue flowers - roses and violets - and blue plums, as well as a glossy, black stony edge. The nose is incredibly alluring. The palate has a very concise, sturdy and deep core of flavors that follow the aromas into blue-plum territory. Plush, long and commanding tannins. Style and grace. Try from 2023." - James Suckling, 96 Points
