Planted in 1923, Finca Nazarenas is located in Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, at 950 meters
of altitude on an alluvial cone. Its deep clay soils create a unique terroir which defines
this wine from these hundred-year-old Malbec vines. The site has a distinct thermal
amplitude with very cool nights, which allow the vines to rest and create an expression
of Malbec which is defined by the tension between maturity and its natural freshness.

"Really deep and profound nose with lots of ripeness, but there is nothing overripe. Blackberries, violets, dark spices, dark chocolate and a touch of figs. Full-bodied, lush and voluptuous with plenty of silky tannins that dissolve seamlessly. Very long. Drink or hold." - James Suckling, 96 Points

Grape: 100% Malbec

The vineyard was planted in 1921 over an ancient dry riverbed in Medrano. Mirador is sun, sand and furious heat; and although water is no longer flowing through this dry river, a cool breeze comes down every night and helps to maintain the natural acidity of this full ripened Malbec.

"Tons of black fruit with a note of graphite, violets and dark chocolate. Plush, gritty tannins with concentrated, juicy blackberries and very silky tannins. Ripe, rich but still fresh, with a lingering finish that goes on and on. A full-bodied, rich and plush wine, but fresh and balanced. Drink or hold." - James Suckling, 96 Points

Vineyard planted in 1910 at the Mendoza River south bank in the region of Perdriel (Lujan de Cuyo). Distinguished by its smoothing features and finely meshed texture. It is elegant and aromatic with an endless finish and a juicy acidity that stands out.

"Really ripe and opulent but deep and complex on the nose with an undertone of blackberries, tar, balsam and a hint of figs. Naturally concentrated, flavorful, super silky and plush, but there is nice freshness on the palate. Extremely long and hedonistic. I’d rate it even higher were there a tad more freshness on the nose. Drink or hold." - James Suckling, 95 Points

Altamira vineyard was planted in 1950 at the foothill of the Andes just below the Tunuyán river. The very challenging growing conditions and the soil profile give this wine a very unique character. Orange peel and balsamic flavors combine harmoniously the violets and red fruit notes typical from Malbec. Mineral notes and sharp acidity.

"This is probably the freshest and most eclectic among the four 2021 Finca wines that Achaval Ferrer produces now. Ripe but fresh and complex, with plenty of layers. Black and blue fruit, violets, graphite, dark chocolate and just a touch of balsam. Fresh yet hedonistic with fine veins of tannins. Plush and extremely long. A big step up from the challenging 2020. Likely one of the best, too. Drink or hold." - James Suckling, 98 Points

"An extremely pure and elegant vintage for Seña. This is really fresh, nimble and floral on the nose with subtle cherries, plums, redcurrants and wild lavender. More red fruit here with lots of layers and just a touch of sweet spice. Very discreet and subtle, with the elegance, freshness and poise you’d expect from 2021. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate with a bit more flesh and depth if you compare it with Roca de Seña, their second wine. The impeccable tannins show the supreme quality of the fruit this year. Persistent, seamless finish, but comes in a subtle way. Effortlessly drinkable now, but it will age beautifully." - James Suckling, 100 Points

Grape: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Malbec, 17% Carménère, and 6% Petit Verdot

Clos Apalta

One of the oldest vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere in Chile. The oldest plots were planted between 1915 and 1920; the stocks were imported from France at the end of the 19th century. A unique, century-old vineyard with 40 hectares of pied franc, with vines averaging 80-years-old.

Enclaved in the Colchagua Valley, near the town of Santa Cruz, Clos Apalta has a micro-climate which is significantly distinct from the general climate of Chile. It could be called semi-Mediterranean, with winter rains and a long, dry summer; weather conditions that allow the grapes to reach optimum maturity. The extreme thermal oscillation favors the accumulation of anthocyanins which creates the deep, rich color of the wines.

In 1994, Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet acquired this property. Their ambition was to produce an exceptional wine and to pave the way for the qualitative development of the country’s fine wines.

"The impressive 2019 Malbec Finca Altamira has finesse and intensity and the expression of this vineyard by the Tunuyán River. It has mineral expression, citrus freshness and the mid-palate complexity that has made Altamira famous. They have shortened the time in barrel to 13 months, so they respect more the personality of the wine with more careful oaking. This is both powerful and elegant, perfumed, complex and serious with a very balanced palate and elegant and fine tannins that make it fine boned, like the best vintages of this wine." - Wine Advocate, 96 Points

"Sweet spices and blueberries, blackberries and blue flowers with hints of chocolate and deep, tangy oyster-shell minerality. The tannin is tight but extremely fine-grained with dense, concentrated fruit. Yet, it doesn’t feel heavy. There’s a fine, saline smack to the finish, too." - James Suckling, 97 Points

Founded in 1998, Achaval Ferrer has become one of the best producers of Argentinean wines from the Mendoza mountains.

Low intervention winemaking allows the grapes to fully express their vineyard in the bottle.
