"Medium ruby red colour. Seductive and fresh aroma of wild red fruits. Lots of tension and the finest tannins. Beautiful balance between lively fruit and mouth-filling freshness and dry texture. Very long." - Jancis Robinson

"The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino Ginestreto is gorgeous, blossoming before my eyes with a heady blend of sweet rose petals, dried black cherries and autumnal spice. Its textures are pure and silky, as a polished wave of ripe red fruits and cooling mineral tones wash across the palate. Rich raspberry and balsamic spice hints linger, and the 2021 finishes crisp and fresh yet still youthfully structured. This is one of the prettiest interpretations of Ginestreto I've experienced, yet that's not to say it's any less powerful." - Vinous, 93 Points

Grape: 100% Sangiovese

A garnet red, delicate and pleasant on the nose. The predominant notes are of raspberry and violet, with the imposition of secondary perfumes very similar to those of Barolo as it ages. On the palate, a complete and temptingly harmonious wine the elegance of which makes up for its lesser structure compared with that of Barolo.

A wine for drinking with all courses of a meal, it offers its best expression when served with rich and tasty dishes, from fresh pasta with rich meat of vegetables sauces, to grilled or roast red meat dishes. It is also excellent with soft and delicate blue cheeses.

Grape: 100% Nebbiolo

"One of the best Barolo classico wines we tasted from the vintage, this wine, like Franco Massolino’s other 2017 releases, seems unaffected by the heat and drought of the growing season.

"Plenty of blackberries, but also licorice, smoke and floral notes make this a ravishing Chateauneuf. Rich and elegant with a serious structure, but also something playful, this wine is already a joy to drink. Long, spicy and black-tea finish with so much energy." - James Suckling, 93 Points.

Rhône

One of the demanded red wine regions in France is the Rhône, a valley that starts due south of Lyon and continues along the Rhône River until Provence.

Due to its notable length, it has varying soils, expositions, micro-climates and varieties. The north is home to appellations such as Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, St-Joseph, Cornas and features Syrah as its sole red grape. Its whites include Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier.

In its southern half of the Rhône, the wines are notably different. The vineyards are hotter, flatter and composed of different soils and varieties, such as Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Carignan as well as the ubiquitous Syrah. The resulting wines such as Châteauneuf du Pape, are rich and robust with lots of character and warmth.

Domaine de La Solitude

La Solitude belongs to one of the oldest families of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Their history goes back to the XVth century. From generation to generation, the Estate is still a family affair and is now run by Florent Lançon.
La Solitude stretches over 37 hectares of the best terroirs in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The domain begins on “La Crau”, high terraces of the Rhône and then descends into the valley of la Solitude. It is a patchwork of terroirs ranging from sandy soils (safres) to clay and pebbles (galets roulés). Thirteen different grape varieties are cultivated there!
The vineyard has been practising organic viticulture for a long time and will be officially certified from 2021 vintage and biodynamic from 2022.

Vineyard about 2 hectares in Eastern Sicily, on the northern slope of Etna, in the Marchesa district at Castiglione di Sicilia.

Altitude approximately 750 m above sea level; the lava soil has a sandy texture, a subacid-neutral pH, with a good organic endowment. Deep, rich in minerals, the lava soil allows for a significant expansion of the root system. This area north of the volcano is characterized by lower rainfall than the other slopes of Etna. Summers are cool, characterized by strong temperature changes between day and night. Due to its location, Contrada Marchesa is well ventilated and sunny; is set in a natural amphitheater surrounded by thousand-year-old slopes with little vegetation (“nude”), which accentuates the temperature range. In this district temperatures are averagely colder, and ripening is later.

Contrada Marchesa 2017 presents a fragrant bouquet with hints of small red fruits, spicy notes (cinnamon and black pepper) and underbrush, followed by balsamic nuances and a delicate mineral note.

Grape: 100% Nerello Mascalese

Sicily

The largest Mediterranean island, separated from the Italian peninsula by the very narrow Messina strait, Sicily is probably among the richest regions in history, art and cultural heritage, a mosaic of colours and contrasts.
According to legend, it was Dionysus (Bacchus) who brought pleasure to mankind, and wine to Sicily.
In the past, Sicily was famous for its Marsala and cheap bulk wines. Over the last 30 years, however, Sicily’s wine culture has changed dramatically and is now considered as one of the best regions.
The Sicilian has the largest vineyard in all of Italy. It is three times the size of the vineyard in New Zealand, larger than vineyard in South Africa and equivalent to the vineyard in Germany.

Donnafugata

Established in 1983 by Giacomo Rallo, the winery is now led by José and Antonio.

Donnafugata boasts vineyards in Contessa Entellina, nestled in the heart of western Sicily, as well as on Pantelleria island, situated between Sicily and Africa.

The 2016 harvest marked a milestone for Donnafugata, fulfilling the aspiration to produce wines in eastern Sicily with the distinguished Etna, Cerasuolo, and Frappato di Vittoria appellations.

The name Donnafugata, meaning ‘lady in flight,’ originates from the novel ‘Il Gattopardo’ and alludes to the tale of a queen who sought sanctuary in what are now the company’s vineyards, a narrative that also inspired the company’s logo.
