"The 2017 Les Forts de Latour has a stupendous bouquet with blackberry, bilberry and oyster shell aromas, very well defined and focused and to be honest, much more intense than I was expecting. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, so elegant and poised with delicate touches of graphite and cracked black pepper towards the pixelated finish. What an outstanding, over-performing Les Forts de Latour. 2023-2055." - Vinous, 94 Points

Bordeaux

Bordeaux, in the southwest of France, is home to some of the most famous châteaux in the world of wine. Their exceptional terroir and superlative wines have long reigned as some of the most sought after and investment-worthy.

The majority of Bordeaux wines are dry, red blends from Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon or Cabernet-Franc.

The finest (and most expensive) of these come from the great châteaux of the Left Bank (higher in tannins, alcohol and acidity, more on Cabernet) like Pauillac, Margaux, St Estephe or St Julien and the Right Bank (softer, less tannic and lower in alcohol and acidity. Merlot is the dominant grape), appellations of Saint-Emilion and Pomerol. They are complemented by high-quality white wines (particularly from Pessac-Leognan) and the sweet, botrytized nectars of Sauternes.

"Opening in the glass with aromas of cherries, strawberries and raspberries mingled with peonies and licorice, Ponsot's 2019 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru is full-bodied, layered and velvety, with a broad attack that segues into a deep, concentrated mid-palate framed by ripe tannins and lively acids. This has turned out very well indeed." - Wine Advocate, 95 Points

"The Chapelle-Chambertin is permitted a slightly longer vinification at slightly lower temperatures than the other re wines. It is the first to eb picked and the last to be decanted out of the fermentation vats. It has paid dividends this year. The colour offers a wealth of exuberant deep purple. The nose too is joyous, making an immediate statement of ripe but delightful deep raspberry and succulent strawberry fruit. There is a wealth of fruit right across the palate then this same strong mineral acidity to finish. The fruit seems to darken (in a good way) in the glass. This is going to be pretty special." - Jasper Morris, 97 Points

"The organic 2020 Barbaresco Bernadot offers a darker fruit performance with black cherry and blackcurrant. Like the other wines from this hot and sunny vintage, you taste the ripeness of the fruit and some background softness that comes with the territory (and the growing season).
Inama

The winery was established in 1967 by Giuseppe Inama. At the time, he began to purchase small plots of vineyards in the heart of the Soave Classico and as a result, the Inama winery today owns most of the vineyards on the prestigious Mount Foscarino.

Today the winery is run by the 3rd generation, pushing up the quality of the Soave and developing their other project in Colli Berici. Here, mineral-rich terra rossa soils (red clay over limestone) and a hot, dry climate make ideal conditions for growing red grapes, in particular Carmenere.

"A tour de force, despite the sheer morass of palate-staining fruit. The malty oak is evident, yet operates as a welcome adjunct to corral and compress the swashbuckle of coffee grinds, beef bouillon, mint, leather varnish and saturated dark cherry liqueur, into a sheath of tension as much as sheer power. Grapes are dried for 70-80 days. This may seem obvious initially, but as one works it out in the glass and across the inner gums, the multitudinous layers become evident. A wine that shape-shifts and beguiles, as much it wrestles with the senses. Excellent. Drink or hold." - James Suckling, 98 Points

Argentina is one of the major wine countries in the world with 195,000 hectares dedicated to vineyards. It has a rich wine history, producing varieties such as Syrah, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonarda, and Malbec. Out of all of the wines that Argentina produces, it is perhaps best known for creating outstanding Malbecs. They are representing 40% of red varieties or 23% of total cultivated area in the country.

The most highly rated Malbec wines originate from Mendoza’s high altitude wine regions of Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley. These Districts are located in the foothills of the Andes mountains between 850 and 1,520 m.

A Malbec is a wine that is known for having a strong and fruity flavor and a very smooth texture and finish, allowing to enjoy an exciting flavor that is delightful to drink. It is a rich and dark wine that some say has a flavor that can be compared to a plum.

Eastern Sicily, north side of Etna, in Montelaguardia district at Randazzo.

Altitude 730 m a.s.l.; the composition of the sandy texture lavic soil offers a subacid-neutral reaction, with good organic endowment. Deep, rich in minerals, the lavic soil allows strong root growth. This area of the north of the volcano is characterized by precipitations lower than those of the other slopes of Etna. Summers are cool, characterized by strong temperature changes between day and night.

"There’s a lot happening on the nose here. Black cherry, baked strawberry, charcoal, sage, bay leaf and smoked paprika. Full-bodied with tense tannins. Succulent and savory on the palate, the red and black fruit mixing with dark mineral notes and some delicious, smoky character. There is richness here, but it remains very much in balance. Coffee and ash come through at the finish. Complex, with excellent depth and length. Fantastic bottle for this difficult and wet vintage. Severe selection made." - James Suckling, 97 Points

Chile

Old or New World wine-producing country? Its first grapevines were planted as early as the 1500s. European immigrants brought more varieties, particularly from Bordeaux, to Chile in the 1800s. Until the 1990s, most of the country’s wine was consumed locally. As Chilean winemakers started exporting more wine, the world noticed both the quality and value of Chile wines.
With 4,300 kilometers of coastline along the Pacific Ocean, Chile produces wines that are both fruit-forward factor and herbaceous.
Cabernet Sauvignon might be Chile’s most important red variety, but Carmenere is the country’s niche grape (98% of the world’s Carmenère is grown there). As for white wines, Sauvignon blanc has become increasingly popular and performs well when grown close to the cool Pacific; Chardonnay is also ubiquitous in Chile.

Casa Silva

Casa Silva traces its roots back to 1892, when Emilio Bouchon arrived in Chile from Bordeaux. His family has been making wine there ever since but it is only in 1997 that Mario Pablo Silva, the oldest son of the 5th generation, and his father, realised the dream of making wines under their own label.
They own 4 distinct vineyard areas in the Colchagua Valley that stretch from the coast to the mountains for a total of 1,000 hectares. Recently, they extended their territory to Patagonia.
Today, Casa Silva is the most award-winning Chilean winery in the 21st century. They are recognized to have a unique understanding of the Colchagua Valley terroir and the expert of Carmenere varietal.
