Bordeaux

Bordeaux, in the southwest of France, is home to some of the most famous châteaux in the world of wine. Their exceptional terroir and superlative wines have long reigned as some of the most sought after and investment-worthy.

The majority of Bordeaux wines are dry, red blends from Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon or Cabernet-Franc.

The finest (and most expensive) of these come from the great châteaux of the Left Bank (higher in tannins, alcohol and acidity, more on Cabernet) like Pauillac, Margaux, St Estephe or St Julien and the Right Bank (softer, less tannic and lower in alcohol and acidity. Merlot is the dominant grape), appellations of Saint-Emilion and Pomerol. They are complemented by high-quality white wines (particularly from Pessac-Leognan) and the sweet, botrytized nectars of Sauternes.

Tuscany

As the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, the region has an incredible art and architecture heritage.

Tuscany is certainly the most famous of all Italian regions for its wines. Sangiovese reigns in all its forms in the vineyards of Chianti but also Montepulciano and Montalcino.

It is also the land of the Super Tuscan, the Bordeaux blend style that laid the foundation of some of the greatest Italian wines.

As a pairing with these wines, Tuscany cuisine is based on simplicity but high quality and certainly topped with Tuscan olive oil, recognized all over the world.

San Polino

San Polino is about 8 hectares of Sangiovese vineyards which lie in 3 different plots of land. They are located at San Polino and to the north of Montalcino to 450m asl.

It was the first farm in Montalcino to obtain Organic certification, in 1994.

The owners, Luigi and Katia, have a holistic attitude to viticulture.

They believe that they must respect, encourage and restore the biodiversity in the vineyard.

To fertilize the fields, they make their own compost using the stalks of the grape bunches, the pressed grape skins, all the green cuttings, from grass to pruning and animal dung.

They plant grasses and beans to add nitrogen and nutrients to the soil.

Veneto

The Veneto, located in the north-east of Italy, is about five million population, ranking fifth in Italy.

It is a very touristic area, mainly to Venice but also Verona.

It is also a region that contributes a significant percentage of the country’s total wine industry.

Soave, Valpolicella or Amarone, are produced there. The super trendy sparkling wine Prosecco has its origins and its best expression in the Veneto.

Much of Italy’s Pinot grigio hails from the Veneto, where the crisp and refreshing style is easy to maintain.

Bertani

The company was established in 1857 by brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani in north of Verona.

The winery’s influence on Veneto’s winemaking, especially in Amarone production, is so profound that the names ‘Bertani’ and ‘Amarone’ are almost interchangeable.

Bertani produced its first official vintage of Amarone Classico, crafted through natural appassimento, in 1958.

Today, the winery continues to blend tradition with innovation, managing over 200 hectares of vineyards in the prime areas of the Verona province.

In 2018, Bertani was honored with the title “Winery of the Year” by Doctor Wine.

In 2023, one more award as “Winery of the Year” by Gambero Rosso.

Piedmont

Located, as its name suggests, at the foot of the Alps bordering France and Switzerland, Piedmont is the second largest of Italy’s 20 regions, after Sicily.

Recognized for its industry like Fiat in Turin, Piedmont is also one of the greatest regions in the world in terms of cuisine (don’t forget the white truffles from Alba!) and wine!

With 46 DOC and 4 DOCG, Piedmont has more wine appellations than any other Italian region.

Broglia

Bruno Broglia acquired this historical estate in 1972.

It was the first winery to collaborate with the University of Torino to improve the quality of the local varietal, Cortese, used for the Gavi di Gavi DOCG.

Now a third-generation family business, the winery manages 65 hectares of vineyards within the Gavi municipality.

Broglia safeguards its oldest vineyards, which date back to the 1950s, thanks to the unique calcareous marl soil that allows the vines to have an ­extended lifespan.

They are recognized as one of the top Gavi producers on the international stage, receiving industries titles such as Tre Bicchieri, as well as, a place as some of the most exclusive tables, such as the Vatican and G8 summits.

Piedmont

Ceretto

The winery was founded by Riccardo Ceretto in the 1930s.

In 1968, his sons acquired their first proprietary vineyard, Bricco Asili, in Barbaresco.

The third generation entered the business in 1999, with Federico now serving as CEO.

Committed to sustainability, the winery achieved organic certifications for all its wines in 2015.

Presently, the Ceretto family is renowned as one of the premier producers of Barolo and Barbaresco in Piemonte.

South West

The South West (or ‘Sud-Ouest’) is a relatively large territorial zone of France, incorporating the administrative regions of Aquitaine, Limousin and Midi-Pyrenees but excluding Bordeaux.
South West France is a rather heterogeneous region in terms of its wines and how they are marketed. It is rare to see wines being sold as Vins du Sud-Ouest. With Bordeaux brightly highlighted wines, the south-western wine regions have been struggling for centuries to get recognition for their diverse & unique appellations.
The region’s wine portfolio, meanwhile, includes sweet wines from Jurancon; tannic, full-blooded reds from Cahors and Madiran; sparkling wines from Gaillac; and dry whites produced from a wide range of different grape varieties.

Château Montus

Lying between the Atlantic Ocean and the Pyrenees Mountains, the spectacular hillside vineyard of Montus, overlooking the Adour Valley, is producing some of the finest Madiran.
Alain Brumont purchased Montus to create the wines of his dreams in 1989. Nicknamed the Petrus of the Southwest by several critics, the château is one of France’s most prestigious wine producers.

Navarra

The North Spanish region of Navarra is located between the Pyrenees and the Ebro Valley.

Wine has been linked to the Navarra region since Roman times. During the Middle Ages, various religious orders promoted the cultivation of the grape all along the Way of St James.

However, it had always been overshadowed by the wines from the neighbouring Rioja region. In recent years, Navarra is gaining more recognition as a wine region.

Navarra wine region has gained attention for high-quality red wines produced by Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. However, Garnacha is also famous for producing exceptional Rosé wines. As for white grapes, the small number of white wines produced in Navarra is based on Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Garnacha Blanca.

Arínzano

Arínzano in Northern Spain makes award-winning wines from 128 hectares of vineyards of Chardonnay, Merlot and Tempranillo grapes.

The estate has been successively owned by monks, lords and wine families, but it has always been linked to wine.

Situated in a valley of the Sierra de Cantabria and the Sierra de Urbasa mountains, a corridor of air makes it five degrees cooler than neighbouring areas.

Arínzano was the first winery in Northern Spain and the seventh in Spain to obtain the prestigious Vino de Pago classification. It takes 10 years to obtain the classification, after going through Spanish and European approvals.

Campania

Campania is highly recognized by the tourists from all over the world, with the amazing attractions of Amalfi Coast, Mount Vesuvius and Capri island.

There’s also a food scene to be discovered. From pizza-loving Naples to fresh fruits, vegetables and cheeses in the countryside.

The wines of Campania were originally intended as food-friendly table wines but things changed a few decades ago.

The very local white, Greco di Tufo and Fiano di Avellino both have their own DOCGs. The red Aglianico got its DOCG as Taurasi.

Salvatore Molettieri

Salvatore Molettieri manages his estate together with his son Giovanni, a trained oenologist. The first wine was bottled with the 1988 vintage. Their vineyards now extend for thirteen hectares in Montemarano, historically one of the two finest crus of the appellation.
