Giacomo Tachis, the "father" of Super Tuscan wines like Sassicaia, Tignanello or Solaia created this wine.

"The 2021 Mille e Una Notte is dark and brooding, smoldering up with a beguiling bouquet of dusty sage and cedar shavings, enhanced by nuances of menthol and cocoa before giving way to blackcurrant. Savory to the core, it offers velvety textures lifted by brisk acidity as a mass of red fruit saturates the senses. The 2021 grips the palate with youthful tension and finishes with a wall of tannins nicely contrasted by a tinge of citrus and licorice. This powerful rendition of Mille e Una Notte will require extreme patience." - Vinous, 94+ Points.

Grape: Nero d’Avola, Petit Verdot, Syrah

Created with Giacomo Tachis, the "father" of Super Tuscan wines like Sassicaia, Tignanello or Solaia.

"The 2020 Mille e Una Notte opens with a basket of berries and spices, further complicated by shavings of cedar and minty herbs. It's silky yet sincere, with tart wild berry fruits and licorice underscored by saline minerals as a balsamic resonance forms toward the close. The 2020 finishes structured and long. Fine-tannins saturate the senses as savory herbs and hints of tart blackberry fade. Bury this deep in the cellar." - Vinous, 94 Points

"One of Sicily's most beloved reds, the Donnafugata 2020 Sicilia Mille e Una Notte is Nero d'Avola with Petit Verdot, Syrah and a few other local grapes. This barrique-aged red offers lots of fruit weight and a full-bodied approach with dark fruit, dried blackberry, spice and sweet tobacco. This vintage offers especially supple tannins and lasting richness." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 94 Points

"A real head-turner, this detailed and nuanced red opens with notes of Mexican spiced chocolate and crème de cassis before revealing a sleek yet rich core, which is built around pepper and graphite-laced berry, cassis and damson plum flavors that fan out around fresh acidity. Features taut but well-integrated tannins, crescendoing harmoniously with elements of molasses and cocoa. Drink now through 2043." - Wine Spectator, 96 Points

"A fresh and discreet Almaviva with subtle pencil shavings and cigar box to the cassis and hints of chili chocolate and peppermint. Nuanced and subtle on the nose. This is medium-bodied and subtle on the palate with silky tannins in the seamless finish. Very long. Drinkable now, but it will take its time to deliver complexity." - James Suckling, 98 Points

Viña Almaviva

In 1997, Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Viña Concha y Toro, sealed a partnership agreement with a view to create an exceptional wine called Almaviva in Alto Maipo, Chile.

The project gives rise to fine Chilean wines that benefit from a rich French winemaking know-how and the unique expression of this Central Valley terroir.

The first vintage achieved immediate international success upon its launch in 1998.

The name Almaviva, though it has a Hispanic sonority, belongs to classical French literature: Count Almaviva is the hero of The Marriage of Figaro, the famous play by Beaumarchais (1732-1799), later turned into an opera by Mozart.

"An extremely pure and elegant vintage for Seña. This is really fresh, nimble and floral on the nose with subtle cherries, plums, redcurrants and wild lavender. More red fruit here with lots of layers and just a touch of sweet spice. Very discreet and subtle, with the elegance, freshness and poise you’d expect from 2021. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate with a bit more flesh and depth if you compare it with Roca de Seña, their second wine. The impeccable tannins show the supreme quality of the fruit this year. Persistent, seamless finish, but comes in a subtle way. Effortlessly drinkable now, but it will age beautifully." - James Suckling, 100 Points

With 4,300 kilometers of coastline along the Pacific Ocean, Chile produces wines that are both fruit-forward factor and herbaceous.
Cabernet Sauvignon might be Chile’s most important red variety, but Carmenere is the country’s niche grape (98% of the world’s Carmenère is grown there). As for white wines, Sauvignon blanc has become increasingly popular and performs well when grown close to the cool Pacific; Chardonnay is also ubiquitous in Chile.

"The 2020 Ornellaia is a gorgeous, elegant wine. Seamless and wonderfully deep on the palate, the 2020 is super-refined from the outset. Even with all of its depth, the 2020 retains terrific freshness and cut to play off its soft, succulent fruit. Overall, the 2020 looks to be a relatively accessible Ornellaia that will drink well with minimal cellaring. I especially admire the precision and understated finesse here." - Vinous, 96 Points

"The 2020 Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is a generous and darkly toned red blend that has the extra fruit fiber, sweetness and generous plumpness of a warm vintage. The fullness of the fruit is on full display, but in a very relaxed and natural manner. The wine never feels like too much. The tannins are yielding and velvety, and this purebred Tuscan red wraps thickly over the palate. It's poised for near- and medium-term drinking." - Wine Advocate, 93 Points

Tuscany

Tuscany is known for its landscapes, history and artistic legacy. As the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, the region has an incredible art and architecture heritage.

Tuscany is certainly the most famous of all Italian regions for its wines. Sangiovese reigns in all its forms in the vineyards of Chianti but also Montepulciano and Montalcino.

It is also the land of the Super Tuscan, the Bordeaux blend style that laid the foundation of some of the greatest Italian wines.

As a pairing with these wines, Tuscany cuisine is based on simplicity but high quality and certainly topped with Tuscan olive oil, recognized all over the world.
