Violet and undergrowth notes appear mid-palate, complemented by pretty, juicy tannins. The finish is spicy, with a touch of black olive.

"Here is a juicy and mellow red that shows notes of wild berries, dark cherries, dried herbs and baking spices. It’s medium-bodied with velvety tannins and texture. Round and delicious. " - James Suckling, 90 Points

A tribute to the family ancestor Paul Martin, who was one of the first French winemakers to sell his wine in bottles in the 18th century under the name "Vin de la Solitude".
Made according to the 18th-century vinique art with very different blends where Grenache is not dominant. The wine consists of a large number of co-fermented grapes with much longer macerations than those made today.

"The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Vin De La Solitude has a medium-bodied, elegant, and silky profile. It offers remarkable complexity with savory red fruits, pressed flowers, savory garrigue, and spicy nuances. The balance is superb, and it has fine, building tannins with a great finish. This cuvée is all about complexity and elegance over power." - Jeb Dunnuck, 95 Points

"Forget the world and fly into this incredibly concentrated and subtle recreation of a Chateauneuf from two centuries ago. A cornucopia of gingerbread, dried cherries, bitter chocolate and wild herbs on the nose. The quality of the tannins is as unique as the aromas. Endless layers of flavor in the super-refined finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold." - James Suckling, 99 Points

Grape: Grenache noir 25%, Serine (old name, similar to Syrah) 22%, Counoise 20%, Mourvèdre 20%, Cinsault 7%, Clairette blanche 3%, Clairette rose 2%, Bourboulenc-Roussanne-Picpoul 1%

A selection of old vines of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. The Grenache grapes come from the oldest vineyard of the Domaine, planted at the beginning of the last century. This terroir gives the Barberini fine tannins and aromatic profile.

"The Barberini cuvée is slightly more modern in style, and the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Barberini is no exception. It has a Provençal, complex, elegant style with red and black fruits, sappy spring flowers, spice, and garrigue notes. Despite being aged in new barrels, the oak is flawlessly integrated. Medium to full-bodied with polished tannins and a great finish, this wine is best enjoyed over the next 10-15 years." - Jeb Dunnuck, 95 Points

"A rich and deeply structured Chateauneuf-du-Pape that’s expansive on the full-bodied palate. Enveloping mulberry and licorice aromas. Deep and suave tannins anchor this, and there’s freshness that keeps this animating through the very long, complete finish." - James Suckling, 96 Points

"Very attractive nose of raspberries, licorice and oranges with a touch of summer flowers. Round and silky on the full-bodied palate, the ample tannins are beautifully integrated, making the long, refined finish velvety. A cuvee of 65% grenache, 20% syrah, and 5% each of mourvedre, counoise and cinsault from biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold." - James Suckling, 94 Points

"The deeper ruby-hued 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape is based on 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and the rest equal parts Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and Counoise. Raised in concrete tank (90%) and new oak (10%), it has aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries, spring flowers, and a touch of black pepper. It offers medium-bodied richness with a pure, layered mouthfeel and integrated tannins. A gorgeous wine to enjoy over the next 10-12 years." - Jeb Dunnuck, 94 Points

"The 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape ratchets up the intensity from the Coudelet, adding more pronounced Mourvèdre-derived notes of truffle and tree bark to go with ripe black cherries and plums, crushed stone and hints of dark chocolate. Full-bodied in the mouth, with ample concentration and richness, this gently tannic wine finishes long and velvety, with echoes of licorice and dark fruit. It's a standout from a difficult vintage." - Wine Advocate, 94 Points

"Still a little closed, so the fruit is a bit reserved, but there are already meaty, lavender and rosemary aromas. Well-structured and crisp, the tannins building steadily as it flows over the palate. The concentrated and ripe red fruit is very deftly wrapped around the core. Long, spicy, and licorice finish. Drink from release. From organically grown grapes." - James Suckling, 94 Points

"Very dense, but also vivid with great elderberry, lavender, licorice and allspice aromas. Impressive concentration and power for the challenging vintage.

"Now, it's time to taste history! Extremely aromatic for a Chateauneuf with extraordinary flint, spiced bread and bitter chocolate aromas. The interplay of richness and freshness is extraordinary, and the way the crisp tannins lift the concentrated and powerful palate is no less remarkable. A cuvee that recreates the pre-phylloxera situation. The grapes are co-fermented, but completely unstemmed (whole cluster) and macerated for about three months. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2025." - James Suckling, 97 Points

Grape: Counoise 24%, Grenache noir 22%, Syrah 20%, Mourvèdre 19%, Cinsault 7%, Clairette blanche & rose 5%, Bourboulenc 1%, Roussanne 1%, Picpoul 1%

A selection of old vines of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. The Grenache grapes come from the oldest vineyard of the Domaine, planted at the beginning of the last century. This terroir of « galets roulés » gives the Barberini fine tannins and aromatic profile.

"The drips with raspberry, cassis and plum fruit flavors, with a remarkably silky feel throughout. Alluring black tea and incense notes hang in the background, and there’s an element of roasted apple wood as well. The fruit blazes through the finish. Best from 2020 through 2035." - 95pts by Wine Spectator

Grape: 45% Grenache, 45% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre

One of the demanded red wine regions in France is the Rhône, a valley that starts due south of Lyon and continues along the Rhône River until Provence.

Due to its notable length, it has varying soils, expositions, micro-climates and varieties. The north is home to appellations such as Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, St-Joseph, Cornas and features Syrah as its sole red grape. Its whites include Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier.

In its southern half of the Rhône, the wines are notably different.
La Solitude belongs to one of the oldest families of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Their history goes back to the XVth century. From generation to generation, the Estate is still a family affair and is now run by Florent Lançon.
La Solitude stretches over 37 hectares of the best terroirs in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The domain begins on “La Crau”, high terraces of the Rhône and then descends into the valley of la Solitude. It is a patchwork of terroirs ranging from sandy soils (safres) to clay and pebbles (galets roulés). Thirteen different grape varieties are cultivated there!
The vineyard has been practising organic viticulture for a long time and will be officially certified from 2021 vintage and biodynamic from 2022.
