DONNAFUGATA Passito di Pantelleria DOC “Ben Ryé” 2020 (Half)

HK$380.00

From the Arabic term “Son of the Wind” because the wind sweeps constantly around the grape clusters on Pantelleria.
Rich bouquet with outstanding aromas obtained from the dried grapes: apricots and candied orange peel. Maybe the best sweet wine from Italy?

“SWEET WINE OF THE YEAR” by Doctor Wine: Passito di Pantelleria Ben Ryé 2020 Donnafugata.

“Concentrated nose of dried apricots, peaches, marmalade, sweet figs, honey and lemon curd. Layered and luscious, with a creamy and honeyed texture. Decadent and intense.” – James Suckling

Description
Sicily
Sicily

The largest Mediterranean island, separated from the Italian peninsula by the very narrow Messina strait, Sicily is probably among the richest regions in history, art and cultural heritage, a mosaic of colours and contrasts.
According to legend, it was Dionysus (Bacchus) who brought pleasure to mankind, and wine to Sicily.
In the past, Sicily was famous for its Marsala and cheap bulk wines. Over the last 30 years, however, Sicily’s wine culture has changed dramatically and is now considered as one of the best regions.
The Sicilian has the largest vineyard in all of Italy. It is three times the size of the vineyard in New Zealand, larger than vineyard in South Africa and equivalent to the vineyard in Germany.

Donnafugata

Donnafugata was established in 1983 by Giacomo Rallo, the fourth generation of a family with 160 years of experience in quality wine. Today the fifth generation – José and Antonio – leads the winery.
Donnafugata has vineyards in Contessa Entellina, in the heart of western Sicily (283 hectares) and on Pantelleria island, between Sicily and Africa (68 hectares)
With the 2016 harvest, Donnafugata realized a dream: produce, in eastern Sicily, wines under the prestigious Etna, Cerasuolo and Frappato di Vittoria denominations, counting respectively on 18 hectares of vineyards and 36 hectares.
The name Donnafugata (lady in flight), is taken from the novel Il Gattopardo and refers to the story of a queen who found refuge where the company’s vineyards are located today. An adventure that also inspired the corporate logo.
