Mauritius

Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean about 2,000 kilometres off the south-east coast of the African continent. The country, independent since 1968, is 1,864 square kilometres.
The Dutch were the first ones to settle down naming the island in honour of Prince Maurits van Nassau.
Mauritius was occupied successively by the Dutch (1598-1712) and later by the French (1715-1810).
The British captured the island in 1810, during the Napoleonic Wars through the Treaty of Paris. They agreed to respect the language and laws of the inhabitants. Considering the island as too small and insignificant for settlement, they kept the French business people in the place.
The French established a plantation economy of sugar cane and Rum industry following the French tradition (French oak, French alembics).

New Grove

In 1852, Dr Pierre Charles François Harel developed the concept of local distillation of rum in Mauritius, using only the finest local ingredients from his vast Pamplemousses Garden Estate. New Grove brand, part of this heritage, has been established in 2003 to produce a unique Mauritian rum that meets the international standards of top quality rums.
From the group estates covering over 6,000 hectares, only the finest canes of the best plots of the Domaine are selected. After being distilled from fresh molasses in the company distillery, the largest in Mauritius, the rums are aged in 30% new French Oak barrels and 70% old French oak barrel and Cognac barrels.

New Grove is 100% natural, no sugar added.

Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia Island is a country in the West indies, located northwest of Barbados and south of Martinique.

It covers a land area of 617 km².

The French were the island’s first European settlers, thanks to a pirate named François Le Clerc, nicknamed “Jambe de Bois” because of his wooden leg.
England took control of the island from 1663 to 1667.

In ensuing years, it was at war with France fourteen times, and the rule of the island changed frequently (it was ruled seven times each by the French and British). In 1814, the British took definitive control of the island.

Saint Lucia only became independent in 1979.

The country is becoming more and more touristic. Two mountains, the Pitons, form the island’s most famous landmark on the western side of the island.

Chairman’s Reserve

Chairman’s Reserve is a truly unique brand produced by the Saint Lucia Distillers.

The distillery, the only one of Saint Lucia Island has been created in 1972 as a result of the merger of Saint Lucia last two distilleries.

Chairman’s Reserve was created in 1999 to prove that Saint Lucia had premium Rums to offer the world. Since then, it’s won two-dozen medals at international festivals.
Nowadays, Chairman’s Reserve is very famous for the only 100% natural spiced rum available in the market!

Awarded “(Rum) Distillery of the Year” by World Spirits in 2018, St Lucia is producing a 100% English Style Rum.

Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States located between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic, east of the Dominican Republic, approximately 1,600 km southeast of Miami, Florida.
Puerto Rico is one of the biggest and best rum-producing nations in the world. The climate of Puerto Rico is just right for producing the sugar cane from which rum (or ron, as the locals know it) is made.
The spirit is also a big part of the island’s history. Juan Ponce de León first brought Creole sugar cane rootstocks from La Española (Dominican Republic) in 1506. Eleven years later, the first sugar mill was established in Añasco. Rum production began in the 1650s.
Today, more than 80% of the rum consumed in the USA hails from this island.

Don Q

In 1861, Don Juan Serrallés founded a small sugar cane plantation – the Hacienda Mercedita.
In 1865, he produced his first few casks of rum using a five-tray copper pot still he had imported from France. With that, the Serrallés family rum tradition had begun.
In 1934, the family launched Don Q. the brand is named for Don Quixote, the famous literary character from the family’s favorite novel.
In 1954, the original Piña Colada was created at The Caribe Hilton hotel in Old San Juan, by Ramon ‘Monchito’ Marrero using Don Q Gold rum!
Today, Serrallés 6^th generation is one of America’s oldest family-owned and operated companies.
The company is the leading rum producer in Puerto Rico
The brands have close to 70% market share in PR, selling over 1 million cases there.
