Umbria

Bordering on Tuscany and right above Rome, Umbria has as a capital Perugia. The city is famous for its University and chocolates, thanks to Perugina/Baci brand! Another famous city is certainly Assisi. The Franciscan structures of Assisi have been selected as a World Heritage Site in 2000.
The region is also named the Green Heart of Italy. Umbrian agriculture is noted for its tobacco, olive oil, black truffles (45% of Italian production in Valnerina) and vineyards.
The notable wines are the crisp, dry white wine Grechetto and the antioxidant-rich reds of Sagrantino, a deep coloured, recognized as the world’s most tannic red wine!

Arnaldo Caprai

The family operation began in 1971 when textiles entrepreneur Arnaldo Caprai purchased a 5ha vineyard, Val di Maggio, in Montefalco. In 1988, management passed on to Arnaldo’s son, Marco.
Today, the estate extends for around 150 hectares, 136 of which are currently in production.
The winery is the leading producer of top quality Sagrantino di Montefalco, a 100% Sagrantino wine. The Grape is recognized to have the highest level of Polyphenols and Tannins compared to any other variety in the world.
Marco, who dedicated himself to develop & promote this unique variety growing in the Montefalco region for more than 400 years, is recognized in Italy and in the world as one of the top Italian producers.

Marche

Located in central Italy, the region enjoys a very varied landscape going from mountains through hills to beautiful beaches, towering cliffs and clear blue waters.

Marche is best known as a white wine region, although it is also home to some reds of very high quality.

It has been the territory of the Verdicchio grape for more than 600 years. The wines are characterized by lively acidity and subtle herbaceous undertones.

Among the red wines of Marche, the finest are generally made from the Montepulciano grape and/or Sangiovese. The best DOCG is the intensely fragrant Rosso Conero Riserva.

The Estate has a total surface area under vine of 210 hectares nestling between the hills and the sea along the Adriatic coast.

All the vineyards are farmed organically. For the winery, this was a technical decision rather than an ideological one.

In Italy, Umani Ronchi has been recognized “best winery of the Year” 2024.

In Asia, Jorio made its fame thanks to the manga “The Drops of God” by Gambero Rosso.

Marche

Tuscany is certainly the most famous of all Italian regions for its wines. Sangiovese reigns in all its forms in the vineyards of Chianti but also Montepulciano and Montalcino.
It is also the land of the Super Tuscan, the Bordeaux blend style that laid the foundation of some of the greatest Italian wines.
As a pairing with these wines, Tuscany cuisine is based on simplicity but high quality and certainly topped with Tuscan olive oil, recognized all over the world.

Cantine Dei

Founded by Alibrando Dei in 1964, today Cantine Dei is run by the granddaughter Caterina Dei.
The estate covers 120 hectares, with 60ha of vineyards divided into five areas of production. Each site has its own soil type with defining characteristics. Amongst, “Bossona” and “La Piaggia” stands out for their soil rich in skeletons and fossils from Pliocene period.
In 2019 a new cru, Madonna della Querce, has been released. The fruits are coming from a south-facing slope of 1.5ha, planted in 2005 in a sandy, tuffaceous and clayey mixture soil.
To pay a tribute to this unique terroir, the new winery has been built with a staircase inspired by fossil seashells.

The region is an important producer of wines but not really well recognized except Franciacorta or Valtellina.

If Italy is known for its spaghettis, Rice is very popular in the region, often found in soups as well as risotti, such as “risotto alla milanese”, with saffron. Butter is used, no olive oil!

The region is famous for its historical figures such as Virgil, Caravaggio, Claudio Monteverdi, Antonio Stradivari and popes John XXIII or Paul VI.

In 1984, Arturo Pelizzatti Perego, decided to make a comeback, using his own acronym, ArPePe.

Now, the family owns 13 hectares of vineyard. They are all standing in grass, in the heart of the Valtellina Superiore DOCG area, dotted around Sassella, Grumello and Inferno.

In 2018, Gambero Rosso awarded Best Italian Red Wine of the Year ARPEPE’s Sassella Riserva Rocce Rosse.

In 1981, Marchese Lodovico Antinori planted the first French vines in Bolgheri, which lies in the heart of Tuscany’s coastal region, Maremma.

The property is adjacent to Tenuta San Guido, producer of Sassicaia.

The estate yields some of the finest Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc in Tuscany.

In 2005, Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi became the owner of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia.

Ornellaia established itself among the iconic wine estates in Italy is producing charming and opulent wines.

CastelGiocondo

Brunello di Montalcino “Castelgiocondo” is a wine that is a bearer of the passage of time and respect for tradition, a value that the Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi winery, even today, after 700 years of history, continues to emphasize in each of its labels. This is a territorial red, expressing the potential of Sangiovese within one of the most renowned terroirs in all of Tuscany and giving a powerful but never out of control sip, always harmonious thanks to elegant tannins.

This “Castelgiocondo” Brunello di Montalcino comes from a careful selection of Sangiovese grapes made by the Frescobaldi winery team. The vineyards, facing south and southwest, are situated at an optimal altitude of between 250 and 450 meters above sea level and are rooted in a terroir rich in sand, clay and calcium. .

United States

Wine production in what is now the United States began with European settlers in the 1500s.

The first widespread European-style vineyards were established in New Mexico in 1628, where Spanish missionaries planted Vitis vinifera grapes.

Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states.

84% of all US wine is produced in California, over 90% in the states of California, Washington, and Oregon.

The United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world.

Joseph Phelps

Joseph Phelps Vineyards is a winery committed to crafting world class, estate-grown wines.

Founded in 1973 by Joe Phelps. He purchased a former cattle ranch near St. Helena in the Napa Valley. The winery now controls and farms nearly 375 acres of vines on eight estate vineyards.

Phelps is best known for its flagship Napa Valley blend of red Bordeaux varietals, Insignia, first produced in 1974.

Awarded Wine Spectator’s “Wine of the Year” in 2005, Insignia is regarded as a qualitative benchmark for California winemaking.

In 2022, LVMH group bought the winery.
