The gentle slope of the hills of Montefalco gave the name of the wine, Collepiano. Aged 22 months in French oak barrique, a wine full of power and finesse.

"Spicy nose of rich blackberries with hints of savoury, sweet spices, violet extract and dark chocolate. Full-bodied and tannic, with rich fruit and a bittersweet accent on the viscous finish. Long and austere. Needs time to mellow." - James Suckling, 93 Points

"A core of dense, fine tannins is enmeshed in a weave of plumped cherry and raspberry fruit, warm spice, dried rosemary and black olive notes, plus a subtle underpinning of loamy earth. More about structure than expression today, so give this time." - Wine Spectator, 92 Points

Grape: 100% Sagrantino

A typical Serralunga soil. Margheria cru owned by Massolino is only 1.5 hectare with a production of 5,500 bottles max.

"I like the freshness and vivid, red-fruited character. Medium-bodied with firm, slightly chewy tannins. It’s compact and structured with a tense and lively aftertaste. Vivid and bright with hibiscus undertones to the orange and berry character. Try from 2027, but already very pretty." - James Suckling, 95 Points

"This Margheria Barolo is a stunning expression of elegance, with captivating high-toned fruit and delicate hints of strawberry tops. The palate is refined and graceful, with fine-grained tannins and mouthwatering acidity that enhance the pure, precise flavors. A true embodiment of finesse, this wine is a standout example of the cru's potential. Drink 2026-2045." - Wine Enthusiast, 94 Points

Made entirely from fruit in the San Biagio vineyard, high in the hills above the sea. There is a constant breeze from offshore, combining with cold nights to preserve acidity, and stony limestone-rich soils give a cooling minerality and balance to the Cabernet Sauvignon/ Cabernet Franc mix. The wine is full of energy, densely woven and balanced, packed with black fruit, floral and herbal notes, and a long fine powerful finish. It is lovely now but has a great future.

"Spicy oak adds some black-bean and sandalwood character to the dark olives, cassis, baked red capsicum, ground black chocolate and some grilled thyme. A full-bodied Bolgheri Superiore, charged with dusty tannins that melt into the blackberry and cassis fruit on the palate. Lovely, cedary oak in the lingering finish. Drinkable now, but hold until 2025 for additional complexity." - James Suckling, 94 Points

Grape: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc

The François family, which settled in Tuscany in the 18th century, has owned the Castello di Querceto estate since 1897.
Since then, they have played a vital role in the development of the Tuscan wine industry. In 1924, Castello di Querceto was one of the 33 founding members of the Chianti Classico Consortium.
The vineyards sit at 470 metres above sea level and extend over 190 hectares, of which 60 hectares are planted with vines. These 60 hectares are divided into 22 different lots, individually chosen for their specific micro-climatic characteristics.
Since 1978, the company has been directed by Alessandro François who ensures that the characteristics and potential of each vineyard are reflected in every wine he produces.

Made with 100% Barbera grapes grown in estate-owned vineyards in Rocchetta Tanaro. La bigotta was a pious woman who lived next to the vineyard. She was much more concerned with the rules and appearances of religion than the spirit behind it. Braida added the spirit!

"Like all the Barberas from Braida in this flight, the alcohol content is recorded at a hefty 15.5% here, but the 2018 Barbera d'Asti Bricco della Bigotta shows a lot more ripeness, sweetness and rich concentration across the board. This expression is just heavier and denser. You sink your teeth into this red wine. There is oak spice and toasted cinnamon, and the wine carries extra fruit weight." - Wine Advocate, 93 Points

Eastern Sicily, north side of Etna, in Montelaguardia district at Randazzo.

altitude 730 m a.s.l.; the composition of the sandy texture lavic soil offers a subacid-neutral reaction, with good organic endowment. Deep, rich in minerals, the lavic soil allows strong root growth. This area of the north of the volcano is characterized by precipitations lower than those of the other slopes of Etna. Summers are cool, characterized by strong temperature changes between day and night.

Pale ruby red coloured, Fragore 2017 presents an ample and profound bouquet featuring spices (sweet tobacco and nutmeg), floral notes (violet) and wild berries merging with mineral (flint stone) and balsamic notes. On the palate, it reveals extraordinary complexity and elegance characterized by outstanding minerality and important tannins. Remarkable long finish.

25 Anni is the result of research and careful clonal selection of Sagrantino’s best grapes. This jubilee wine was produced for the first time in 1993 to celebrate the winery’s 25th anniversary. Since then, 25 Anni has kept its name as well as its unique character, power and elegance. Aged 24 months in French oak barrique.

"Marco Caprai strikes again with yet another beautiful vintage of his top-shelf red. The 2013 Montefalco Sagrantino 25 Anni is a darkly saturated and thickly extracted wine with a full and generous style. The wine is redolent of dark fruit, tobacco and smoky barbecue. However, the real protagonist is spice: baking and Christmas spice, to be exact. The wine is firmly structured with some tannic astringency that will soften with extra cellar aging." - Wine Advocate, 94 Points

San Leonardo

Founded in 1724, San Leonardo has since remained in the same family. The estate is in Vallagarina in the extreme south of Trentino and extends over 300 hectares, 25 of which are planted with vine.
The rows, some dating from the late 19th century, are lined with cabernet sauvignon, carmenere and merlot, varieties the Guerrieri Gonzaga’s have always relied on to make wines that stand out with balance and elegance.
Today, it is owned by a direct descendant, Marchesi Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga, previously wine-maker in Sassicaia. His knowledge and collaboration since 1984 with Giacomo Tachis, creator of the “Super Tuscans”, have given these wines a unique style that has gained the attention of the world.
