"Compelling aromas of chili pepper, nuts, beeswax and dark fruits with dried strawberries. Hints of black olives and meat. Full body with extremely thick, silky tannins and a long, flavorful finish. This is layered and so structured, with fabulous length and density. Savory. Chocolate powder at the end. This needs at least three or four years of bottle age. A triumph for the vintage. Pure merlot. " - James Suckling, 98 Points

"Lots of chocolate and berries, as well as spice, walnuts and vanilla. It’s full and layered. Extremely long and flavorful. So juicy and sexy. Luscious is the word. Opulent with polish and presence. Chewy at the end. Brightness and energy here. " - James Suckling, 98 Points

"A beautiful Tuscan Merlot, the 2018 Redigaffi strikes me as an especially rich and balanced expression. This is something I alluded to in my original review of this vintage. The wine is still very young with dark fruit, dried cherry, soft spice and toasted oak. It is dark and concentrated in appearance and texture, and it also has enough freshness and tart fruit flavors to assure a long aging trajectory ahead." - Wine Advocate, 97Points

The Rabajà vineyard is one of the most historic, famous, and sought-out crus of Barbaresco. 4 hectares with South / South-West exposure owned by Giuseppe Cortese!

"With all due respect to the estate Barbaresco, the flagship Rabajà bottling rightly boasts greater concentration, density and richer fruit given its mostly southwest exposure and warmer microclimate. At the same time, it retains absolute purity and balance. Limpid scents of raspberry, crushed allspice and mint blossom captivate. The palate demonstrates tension and textural depth with a mineral sensation simmering under the succulent dark berry core. The tannins are ripe but give a properly assertive grip. I remember walking through Rabajà in early October 2022, and the estate was one of the few that still had grapes on the vines. Clearly their decision to wait paid off." - Decanter, 95 Points

"The 2021 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà is impressive. Dark fruit, menthol, licorice, gravel and dried herbs showcase Barbaresco's darker, more virile side. The 2021 is marked by deeper color and more fruit intensity - especially in the mid-palate - vis a vis the 2019 tasted alongside it. Time in the glass brings out the wine's textural resonance, volume and presence. I imagine the 2021 will be slow to mature. It should be worth waiting for." - Vinous, 97 Points

"Balsamic aromas and flavors of eucalyptus and tomato leaf are matched to a core of ripe cherry, plum and earth. Though lean and austere now, this compact red offers a core of fruit and, in the end, nice equilibrium and impressive length." - Wine Advocate, 95 Points

In the biggest years, the family selects a Brunello Riserva which is aged, according to regulations, for five years, three of which are in wood. The grapes primarily come from the oldest vines in the vineyard.

"The aromas of dried berries, orange peel and flowers lead to a medium body with ultra-fine tannins that blend well into the wine, giving it energy and length. Beautiful ripe fruit with a juicy and flavourful finish. A classic and wonderfully proportioned young Brunello. Drinkable, but better after 2026 and beyond." - James Suckling, 97 Points

"The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2019 is a seductress with a multitude of cinnamon, cloves, allspice, black cherry and a hint of laurel. On the palate, Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is radiant and classic, with lively ripe red fruit and sweet spices, perfectly accompanied by a core of brilliant acidity. Its minerality emerges on the finish, which is tactile and salty. A web of fine-grained tannins envelops the senses with youthful balance, nuances of cedar and inner rose. The 2019 is captivating and made for the cellar. What a beauty." - Vinous, 97 Points

Grape: 100% Sangiovese

The wood aging has been pared back to less than 5% of the volume, with the majority of the wine aged in stainless steel and concrete tanks.
Rhône

One of the demanded red wine regions in France is the Rhône, a valley that starts due south of Lyon and continues along the Rhône River until Provence.

Due to its notable length, it has varying soils, expositions, micro-climates and varieties. The north is home to appellations such as Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, St-Joseph, Cornas and features Syrah as its sole red grape. Its whites include Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier.

In its southern half of the Rhône, the wines are notably different. The vineyards are hotter, flatter and composed of different soils and varieties, such as Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Carignan as well as the ubiquitous Syrah. The resulting wines such as Châteauneuf du Pape, are rich and robust with lots of character and warmth.

Château Pesquié

Château Pesquié is a family estate located in the southern Rhône Valley, at the foot of the southern slopes of Mont Ventoux.

The management of Château Pesquié is now the responsibility of Alexandre and Frédéric Chaudière, the 3rd generation of the family.

The vines occupy clay and limestone slopes and are among some of the last to produce fully ripened fruit in the southern Rhône Valley.

In 2003, the brothers have implemented organic viticultural methods at the estate. From 2015 they have farmed biodynamically.
